U13's almost Purrrrfect in League and Cup double header

24/03/19

7 Star Swarbrick capitalises on great teamwork

The U13's rolled up to Chisnall Lane this morning to be greeted by some much needed sunshine and to face Halton Farnworth Hornets Greens in a League and Cup double header after last weekends fixture wash out. Due to a number of unavailable players the changes were rung within the starting line up once more and recent new recruit Ryan Burney made his Panthers debut off the bench. It's fair to say that so far this season the Panthers have not produced two halves of rugby the same and the focus of this weeks training sessions has been to work on consistency in all aspects of the U13's performance. Once the whistle blew this morning it was very evident that the Panthers were running hot and some great rugby league was on show from the home side who moved the ball with speed, accuracy and intent to produce some fantastic try scoring opportunities for Deacon Swarbrick who bagged FIVE first half tries, all of which came off the back of some superb teamwork. The middles carried the ball well with Cardoza proving dominant and the back five of Woodward, Pilkington, Trundle, Glew and Latham all wreaked havoc around the ruck laying a great platform for the fast hands of Wilding, Seddon and Bolton to put Swarbrick away on numerous occasions on the Panthers left edge. The half time score of 28-4 was well deserved by the home team and the discussion amongst the players during the break was to continue with more of the same in the second half and that's just what they did. Again, Swarbrick bagged two more with Cardoza bagging a brace on the right and Trundle earning himself a score after a great short side play form Sherrington that capped another good performance from the centre, with Wilding converting 7 goals to finish the game for the Panthers with a 54-4 win. Overall it was a very good team performance and the hard work put in by all the players really paid dividends and evidenced just what they can achieve when they are all working together and playing for each other.
